The Orthodox Christian Church traces its roots back to the first Apostles of Christ. The Orthodox Church was founded by our Lord Jesus Christ and is the living manifestation of His presence in the history of the world. The word “Orthodox” is derived from the Greek words: Orthos (right) and Doxa (teaching or worship). Although we are the second largest Christian denomination, you may not have heard too much about us because we are primarily found throughout Eastern Europe and beyond. It was not until the early 1800s that immigrants to the United States brought their Orthodox Christian faith with them to this country.

 

              Although we trace our roots to the time of the Apostles, Orthodox Christianity is much more than a chapter from Christian history, the Orthodox Church is evangelical, but not Protestant. It is Orthodox, but not Jewish. It is Catholic, but not Roman. It isn’t non-denominational – is pre-denominational. It has believed, taught, preserved,  and defended the Faith of the Apostles since the Day of Pentecost over 2000 years ago. The Church exists to worship the Holy Trinity, to preach the Gospel to our community, and to transfigure our into the likeness of Jesus Christ.
